Then...there we were Thursday afterrnoon- it was time to head in. When we got there we filed out all kinds of paperwork. I am sure we made the lady filing the forms out with us uncomfortable. We (I) tend to do that everywhere we (I) go with our (my) awkwardly inappropriate comments. At about 7 we finally got in a room. I sent Seth out for the last supper, from McCallister's- I really wanted Chilli but I knew that could be a fatal mistake the following day so I settled on Chicken pot pie soup in a bread bowl. It was just as fantastic. The gave me some kind of medicine. Checked me throughout the night- I screamed like a child everytime. Thank god for the ambien. I think I got the best night sleep I'd had in months.
Around 530 the next morning we got the party started. Hello epidural. Hello whatever medicine it was the started pumping in me (details). At some point in the day they broke my water. Sick. The entire day when I was in labor I think 300 people were in my room it was so relaxing. Luckily for me, I was paralyzed from the waist down and was on the verge of just passing out the whole day. I may or may not have pretended to be in labor pains just so I could get out of talking to anyone. Yes, I know I am such a jerk. I think I may have eaten about 100 popsicles. I did a rotation of orange then purple- it was quite satisfying.
Around 2- it was time to go. I almost had a panic attack! I was just thinking it'd be around five or so....I had three more hours! What was going on! OMG! Anyways it was time to push. Too bad I had no idea where to push or what to use as I could not feel anything from the waist down and I might has well have been a paraplegic. After a few fake pushes, I just did what they did in the movies- Maria finally got me qued in to the whole push thing. Keep in mind I still have felt nothing all day. Not a contraction, not the baby getting lower or even making his way into the world. So what they had to do was count me in and tell me when to push. I had a little trouble with when to inhale, exhale, and when to push. Then Maria the thinker of the group told me to think of swimming. I still struggled because I am not smart- At one point maria counted me in and said in her spanish voices...LLLLLLEts go swimmmminnnng. Of course I couldn't push after that comment. I just laughed and then we had to try again. Blah blah blah anyways, I finally figured out the whole push thing. Maria asked me if I wanted to feel my baby's head. I politely declined- I am picturing Courtney Kardashian pulling her baby out at this point and am on the verge of vomitting. Anyways then after about 15 minutes of pushing and awkward moments- enters Carson Thomas Kaffka. The cutest little thing in the whole wide world!
He was 19 3/4 inches and 6lbs 10 oz. Just a little squirt! He had blue eyes and big feet and hands! When he was born he looked more like me- a week into the milk doing his body good he beefed up and looks alot like Seth. I am so jealous of this I cannot see straight. At least he has my eyes- for now!
Anyways, having a baby was easy- weirdly enough. I felt nothing. Not a pain, not a contraction. It was odd but I am ok with it. I seriously had the easiest pregnancy and labor and delivery. Lucky me! But don't worry I am not doing it again!
I cried the whole way home. This baby has gotten me so soft.
